The Story of LV TMC
The beginning of the Leadership Village (LV) Toastmasters Club (TMC) was in June of 2009, when some District 67 (Taiwan) leaders including then District Governor Marian Hsiao, DTM, and Mike Yang, DTM, then Lt. Governor of Marketing and Y. S. Liao, DTM, decided to charter an advanced club specially for the Toastmasters leaders in the northern Taiwan, such as club presidents, club officers, area governors, division governors and district officers! This is a club that Toastmasters leaders could exchange ideas and discuss among themselves leadership experiences as well as club, area, division and district issues!
In addition, the design of meeting agenda was somewhat more creative and challenging then, such as making impromptu prepared speeches on the spot or imitating a prepared speech as one’s own speech! Moreover, the club had Toastmasters magazines’ reading sessions to understand more about public speaking and leadership skills.
At first, the club’s meeting venue was at a catholic church in Xindian, later on the venue was moved to Taipei City from Cardinal Tien Cultural Center, a Taipei citizen activity classroom, TaTung University, online meeting during the pandemic period, Golden Pond Book Store and to where we are now today at Qingdao East Road. The club was also transformed from an advanced club to a normal club.
Over the years, we have had many outstanding Toastmasters leaders joining the club. At one time, we claimed that LV TMC is a club with the most district governors (DDs), DTMs and Toastmasters leaders in District 67. Among them, George Yen, DTM, was not only our Former District Governor, but also Former International President of the whole Toastmasters International!
This club features high quality meetings, excellent Toastmasters leaders and members! Welcome to join us!
